Good to know

Important questions related to local public transport in the association area are answered here for guidance.

This page features the most commonly asked questions related to the topics of transport association, tickets, timetables, services and travelling with Move.

Transport association

The Move fare is valid in the districts of Rottweil, Tuttlingen and Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis.

No, the transport association is only responsible for marketing and selling the network fare. The association does not operate its own buses and trains.

Tickets – available options

Single child ticket (from 6 to 14 years old), single adult ticket (15 years old and above), single day ticket, group day ticket, monthly student travel card, monthly adult travel card, student subscription travel card and adult subscription travel card. The bike ticket and connecting tickets are also available. Click here to view the current ticket range.

The best fare finder shows a comparison of all available tickets for your journey. Occasional travellers can purchase single and day tickets. However, those who travel with us more regularly may prefer to purchase a time card. The customer centres will be happy to provide advice.

Children need to have their own ticket as soon as they reach the age at which school is mandatory, at the latest by their 6th birthday to their 15th birthday. Children under the mandatory school age younger than 6 will only be transported free of charge when accompanied by a responsible chaperone with a valid ticket.

Move tickets cover travel by bus and train throughout a selected area. Single, day and monthly tickets cover travel throughout the selected fare zones. Subscription tickets are valid throughout the entire network area. You can find information on where your ticket is valid printed on the ticket or online. Click here to view the fare zone map.

Fares are based on the number of fare zones travelled. Each additional zone corresponds to an additional price level. From price level 4 and above, time cards then cover travel throughout the entire network area. To make things even simpler: The best fare finder shows an overview of all available fares for your journey.

All Move tickets are only valid for one person and cannot be transferred. The name of the holder must be written on the ticket and corresponding ID presented upon request.

The validity of your ticket is printed on the physical ticket or available online. Monthly passes are valid for the calendar month written on the ticket.

The “AboCard” subscription ticket is valid for 12 consecutive calendar months and automatically renews for another 12 months if it isn’t cancelled on time. Special note for student subscription tickets: in order to renew their ticket, students must submit a valid school ID at the start of each school year after their 15th birthday without being prompted. Otherwise, the subscription ticket will be cancelled.

The “TagesTicket Single” single day tickets (for one person) are valid for one day from the start of operations until 3am the next day. The “TagesTicket Gruppe” group day tickets are valid from 8am on Mondays to Fridays, or from the start of operations on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays until 3am the next day.

“EinzelTicket” single tickets are valid for one journey, not including round trips or return journeys. Depending on the price level, your ticket may be subject to a time limit. Single tickets purchased under city and inner-city fares are valid for 1 hour, tickets for price level 1-2 are valid for 2 hours, for 3 hours for price level 3 and for 4 hours for price level 4. Your journey must end before the ticket is no longer valid.

Tickets – loss and replacement

Time cards purchased at ticket machines, on the bus or at the counter are not electronically saved and can therefore not be replaced. No replacement is provided for destroyed tickets. Chip cards form the only exception to this rule. Upon presentation of the corresponding ticket receipt and return of the damaged chip card, the chip card can be replaced for an additional admin fee. If damage to chip cards can be attributed to an error made by the manufacturer, no fee will be charged for replacement. A temporary replacement card will be issued at the customer centre or school office.
Lost tickets will not be replaced. If the monthly card is lost, only the receipt worth €5.00 will be replaced.

Subscription cards: Please contact your subscription centre. Monthly passes: Please contact one of the customer centres operated by your local transport association.

Tickets – special offers

Groups can purchase the “TagesTicket Gruppe” day ticket. The “KlassenTicket” and “SportTicket” are no longer available.

No special deals will be offered to seniors when the new network launches. Our fares are based on transparency and providing the cheapest tickets available. Seniors can benefit from the wallet-friendly deals offered to adults to remain mobile without any time restrictions.

No special deals will be offered to students when the new network launches. Our fares are based on transparency and providing the cheapest tickets available. Students can take advantage of our offered subscriptions for their education. A valid student ID needs to be submitted without prompting when they purchase the ticket and 2x annually at the start of each semester.

The single child ticket is available from the age of 6 up to their 15th birthday. Young people aged 15 and over need to purchase the single adult ticket. Age must be proven when purchasing a child ticket.

The provisions laid out in the Social Code (Book IX) apply to the transportation of disabled people, carers and guide or assistance dogs. Entitlement to free transport needs to be verified with the presentation of your original disabled person’s ID card, including a valid token. A disabled person’s ID card does not entitle its holder to travel 1st class on trains, even if an extra fee is paid to travel 1st class.

You can receive your disabled person’s ID card and token from the social services office (Versorgungsamt) responsible for your case.

Tickets – Extras (dogs, bikes, etc.)

A single child ticket or adult time card valid for the respective journey must be purchased for dogs. Guide dogs for the blind, assistance dogs and small dogs in suitable dog boxes can travel free of charge.

The “FahrradTicket” bike ticket covers the transportation of bikes and is valid throughout the entire network area. Bike tickets must generally be purchased from 6am to 9am on Mondays to Fridays and for all travel on buses. Passengers are not fundamentally entitled to travel with bikes.

At the moment, we don’t offer any special time cards for travelling with bikes on public transport. The “FahrradTicket” bike ticket can be purchased for one-way journeys. Passengers are not fundamentally entitled to travel with bikes. Permission varies subject to capacities and the final decision lies with the operating staff. When folded, folding bicycles count as an item of luggage and can be transported free of charge.

When folded, e-scooters count as an item of luggage and can be transported free of charge. Similarly to bikes, a bike ticket needs to be purchased for all other e-scooters at the applicable times.

Tickets – Subscriptions

Subscription travel cards are valid for a minimum period of 12 consecutive calendar months. If the travel card is not cancelled in time by the 15th of the month before it’s due to expire, it will automatically be renewed for another calendar month.

The order must be completely filled, including a recent photo and SEPA direct debit mandate, and received by a customer centre in the form of an order form or on our website by the 15th of the month before the travel card will become valid.

Children required to attend school are entitled to purchase a student travel card up to their 15th birthday. After their 15th birthday, pupils and students of public, state-approved and state-recognised private general education schools, vocational schools, second chance education institutions, universities and academies with the exception of the business institutes, adult education centres and state adult education centres can purchase a student time card.

Yes, at the start of the purchase process, a credit check will be performed. If it returns negative results, your subscription application may be denied. Your card may also be blocked if payment is repeatedly not received.

Subscription travel cards can be cancelled by the issuer with immediate effect. The customer will be required to pay for charge backs and an admin fee according to the price table.

As the subscription travel card is an annual ticket, it is already heavily discounted. A suspension is only permitted for illness that lasts more than 7 days with a doctor’s note stating the passenger is unable to travel and with adherence to deadlines.

Travel is only permitted with a valid ticket. If you have forgotten your subscription travel card, you will need to purchase a single ticket to cover your trip. Otherwise, you may incur a 60 euro fine if it is discovered you are travelling without a ticket when the staff come to check your ticket.

Your subscription will automatically be renewed after 12 months if you don’t cancel it. The chip card is technically valid for 5 years. After this period, you will receive a new subscription travel card in the post.

Please let one of our customer centres know your address has changed as soon as possible. This is the only way to ensure you continue to receive all important correspondence and your renewed subscription travel card.

Your subscription travel card can be cancelled at any time for the end of a calendar month by letting one of the Move customer centres know in writing that you want to cancel by the 15th of a calendar month. Once you cancel, the subscription travel card will be invalidated as of the termination date and must be returned to one of the Move customer centres by the 5th working day of the following month.

The validity of your subscription travel card is stored on the chip card and can be checked at the machines, ticket printers on buses and at our customer centres. You can also call one of the Move customer centres to receive information on your chip card after a corresponding verification.

Tickets – Leisure time scheme

The leisure time scheme applies for the student monthly pass and subscription travel card. Under the leisure time scheme, monthly student travel cards are valid from Mondays to Fridays from 2pm; on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays for travel across the entire association area, including the local networks operated by Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg GmbH (RVF), Regio Verkehrsverbund Lörrach (RVL), Tarifverbund Ortenau (TGO), Waldshuter Tarifverbund (WTV) and Verkehrsverbund Hegau-Bodensee (VHB).

On weekends (Sat/Sun) and public holidays, one additional adult over 15 years old and up to 4 children under 14 years old can travel with you free of charge throughout the area covered by your ticket if you possess a corresponding time card (monthly adult pass or adult subscription travel card). The DB Navigator is available at www.bahn.de/service/mobile/db-navigator and in your app store.

No. The introduction of the new network has led to the launch of a standardised and simplified Move fare. As a result, the network merger has not affected timetables.

The new Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg transport association will launch along with the Move brand on 1/1/2023, introducing a standardised pricing system and joint sales in the region. This will not initially have any impact on cross-district timetables. The aim is to expand the fare network to a transport association and operate a joint transport network — beyond the borders of the districts.

Information on routes can be found in the symbol line above the timetables for individual lines. Here you can see whether the bus runs on holidays (H) or only on school days (S). If you can’t see a (H) or (S), then this route runs as usual on both school days and holidays. All holidays and public holidays are listed in the corresponding timetable book or operating days calendar.

The symbols can be found in individual timetables and are explained under the corresponding timetable.
